What Horror Movie Character Would You Be Based on Your Zodiac Sign?

Written by: Dani Espinosa

A truly essential part of a good horror movie is having great characters and an even greater villain/monster. More recent films have also been super diverse about how they design their Final Girl and femme fatale villain- which begs the question: what horror movie heroine or villain would you be according to your zodiac sign?

Check for your sun and rising sign to see what character fits your personality best for a horror movie- as well as the next movie to watch before Halloween!

Aries- Jennifer from Jennifer’s Body

She’s toxic, she’s shallow and superficial- and also a cult favorite in horror. Jennifer from Jennifer’s Body is the main villain/supernatural baddie we all love to hate (but secretly love more). Jennifer loves being able to control those ‘below’ her, and her energy screams seductive maneater, which funny enough, is exactly what she ends up being cursed as. As much as she loves the chase and preying on the less unfortunate, she, like a typical Aries, can get bored quite easily and exhibits lots of stubbornness and insensitivity when things don’t go her way.

Taurus- Susie from Suspiria

Susie is the mysterious student that arrives at a dance school in Berlin, instantly attracting the attention of Madame Blanc, the highly esteemed teacher who just seems...off. Susie’s sensual, almost primal way of approaching dance and heavy connection to the ground/earth when performing screams big Taurus energy. Despite having left her mother early on in the film, Susie is also very family focused and attracted to motherhood, which leads to an interesting dynamic with the elusive Madame Blanc. Like any other Taurus, Susie shows a stubborn and cold-blooded side to her when dealing with those she does not love- but is incredibly loyal and kind to those that she holds close to her heart.

Gemini- Adelaide/Red from Us

We have to give the Gemini spot to Adelaide/Red- she is literally the physical manifestation of the Gemini twin stereotype. Traumatized by a freak accident as a child, Adelaide exists as two versions- the shy, awkward mom of two and an evil shadow side that will do anything to break out into the real world. It’s in learning how to work with her shadow side that Adelaide finds her strength and gets back in control. She also provides some insane little twists and turns to the storyline that are totally unexpected- how Gemini of her!

Cancer: Soo-An from Train to Busan

So generous and giving, Soo-An is literally an angel. The shy child clings to her mother (a very Cancer thing to be focused so heavily on family and motherhood) due to her rocky relationship with her absent father. While on a train ride back to her mom, Soo-An’s life is put at risk with deadly zombies on the hunt. Her reaction? She prioritizes the collective’s safety over her own and very maturely calls out the lack of respect for the wellbeing of the public over the selfish interests of a select few. Soo-An is proof that in a horror movie, you might actually want a Cancer on your side- even if they do cry a lot.

Leo- Jill from Scream 4

Leo’s are big main characters. At their best, they are energetic, funny and great leaders. At their worst, however, they are extremely egotistical and experts at gaslighting and manipulating others when need be. Jill, who by first appearances is the perfect victim, has a high sense of self-importance that funnily enough stems from low self-confidence and the fact that she is essentially an ordinary nobody. Jill, like any other Leo, exhibits the poor habit of wanting to be the main character so bad, they’ll self-sabotage in the process of clawing their way towards appreciation and recognition.

Virgo- Nina from Black Swan

At first watch, Nina gives a lot of different vibes; perhaps Pisces from how quickly she falls victims to delusional thoughts and paranoia, or Scorpio from how she transforms over time from virginal ballerina to the evil Black Swan character. But through it all, what stands out most is Nina’s dedication to her ballet career and passion. In fact, she’s so dedicated it consumes her whole life, as Nina sets poor boundaries between work, her personal life and the questionable people around her. As she desperately tries to become the Black Swan, Nina falls victim to her own perfectionism. It doesn’t get more Virgo than that!

Libra- Grace from Ready or Not

Grace is fun and quirky, with a great sense of humor as she desperately tries to find a way to win over her new husband’s super rich family. That quirkiness may be gone by the time she realizes the family is out to murder her in the name of playing games, but she’s tenacious and is not easy to shake off when she is fixated on something. Libra energy is all about balance and justice- and if Grace accomplishes anything in Ready or Not, it’s finding a way to make the bad guys finally pay for everything they’ve done. On the bright side, she also finds her own strength and sense of self from having to deal with toxic connections- which is some good advice for those Libras that end up unknowingly people-pleasing themselves into trouble!

Scorpio- Akasha from Queen of the Damned

While this movie is certainly not the best, Aaliyah is immortalized in horror movie history as one of the most ruthless (and best dressed) monsters ever thanks to the role of Akasha, Queen of the Damned and empress of death. Territorial, ruthless and seductive, Akasha is the definition of power hungry. After centuries of sleep, she comes back from her eternal slumber to join forces with a rockstar vampire in hopes of ruling together forever. It’s her transformation from death and that sensational need to be evil that makes Akasha the most Scorpio horror movie villain ever. In fact, her very weakness is through opening herself up to be vulnerable to others. When has a Scorpio ever willingly wanted to share their emotions? I rest my case.

Sagittarius- Alex Woods from Aliens vs. Predators

Aliens vs. Predators may not be the best movie out of the series, and many may see Ripley as the more iconic character out of the Aliens universe, but Sanaa Lathan in a sci-fi horror film? Iconic. The fact that she plays a world-renowned traveller and explorer that is taken under the wing of a blood-thirsty warrior and allowed to fight side by side for the sake of humanity’s existence? Even more iconic. Extremely intelligent and extremely lucky, Alex Woods is a lover of adventure and willing to take risks, showing true potential as a leader and as a Sagittarius. It makes sense that the zodiac sign represented by an arrow is the perfect match for a brave warrior like Alex.

Capricorn- Juno from The Descent

Juno very quickly assumes the role of Girlboss among her adventurous friend group, which reeks of Capricorn vibes. She’s bossy and enjoys being the naturally assumed leader, as she never explicitly seeks the role as leader yet very quietly crafts a master plan for being the brains behind their girl trip extravaganza. Outside of fighting for her life in an unexplored cave, Juno also has difficulties being sensitive to the moods of others and knowing how to emotionally support someone. However, the most Capricorn thing about Juno has to be her willingness to walk over anyone (and I mean that literally) to survive. It’s always ‘me first’ when it comes to Juno.

Aquarius- Lorraine Warren from The Conjuring

Lorraine is gifted in her own sense; a clairvoyant who can connect with spirits and otherworldly creatures, but shunned by the world for her weird ‘otherness’. Despite not having that much support outside of her husband and daughter, Lorraine understands and is comfortable with being seen as an outsider. In the Conjuring universe, she is innovative and intuitive, extremely giving and does like to help others despite being initially reserved. She is the embodiment of an Aquarius- the outsider with a big heart, just hoping to be able to do their part in making the world a better place.

Pisces- Ofelia from Pan’s Labyrinth

While some may argue that Pan’s Labyrinth is not technically horror, there’s a lot going on in this movie that is just so disturbing and unnerving that it deserves the right to claim itself as a fantasy horror movie. Ofelia, innocent and naive, is a Pisces through and through. Adopted and forced to live under the rule of a sadistic Spanish general during a time of civil unrest in the country, Ofelia’s spirit is incredibly hard to crack. The young girl is quite playful and curious, as she stumbles upon a beautiful but dark fantasy world that promises her a glorious life away from the perils of wartime. Beyond wanting to escape reality at all times, Ofelia is also incredibly loving and nurturing, clinging to those she trusts and admires. It could be considered her one downfall, but her spiritual perspective on creating a life worth living full of joy and wonder is certainly an admirable trait- and super Pisces of her.
